So we already told you about the strange-but-true “race” that CNN “competed” in with Ashton Kutcher to see who would be the first to 1 million followers on Twitter, because that sounds like something the world’s supposedly leading source of news should be doing with its time (note: CNN is now ranking around fourth just among American sources of cable news, which makes it as relevant as NBC is as a broadcast network…bonus ZING!). And yet. Something seemed awry yesterday because several people reported getting error messages when they tried to do the right thing and unfollow these Twits (we noticed the same thing ourselves). Did Twitter cheat?! Were they afraid that enough of us would get sick of getting Punk’d by these clowns and ruin their attempt for relevancy, and therefore scuttle their big publicity hoo-ha with Oprah today?
