There have been some great police officers on Television in the last few decades. Detectives and patrolmen who make us feel safe even though they are tucked away soundly in our TV screens. But there are those who make feel a little uneasy with their antics. The ones that make us rethink calling 911. Here are the 7 worst police officers on Television.
7. Lt. Jim Dangle, Reno 911 – Of all the ineptness in the Reno Sheriff’s Department, it’s hard to pick just one character. But since he is looked upon as a leader, the buck stops there.
6. Deputy Sheriff Barney Fife, Andy Griffith Show – Probably the most lovable, yet most dangerous. If he was ever allowed to take his bullet out of his pocket, there was gonna be a shootin!
5. Officer Gunther Toody, Car 54, Where Are You? – If there ever was an officer more indifferent about protecting and serving, it was this guy.
4. Inspector Sledge Hammer, Sledge Hammer! – Sadly the show was short-lived or Sledge could have made number one. He was Dirty Harry with a hint of Down Syndrome.
3. Sgt. Frank Drebin, Detective Lieutenant, Police Squad! – You work next to one of the most notorious killers of the 90s and you’re oblivious? Shame on you Drebin!

2. Inspector Clouseau, The Pink Panther (Animated) – You spend your day trying to find a 6 foot tall panther with pink fur in a city full of people, and you come up short. In all honesty he was a glorified dog catcher.
1. Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane, Dukes of Hazzard – When you’re taking credit for the police work of Deputies named Enos and Cletus, you might wanna rethink your occupation. You can’t catch two guys in a bright red car, even though you know where they live and see them on a daily basis. Your policery stills are -4.
